Beginnings: PelicanRadio.com goes back to a bug that bit me a long time ago while doing volunteer work @
Radio Peace in Miami as music program director. I've always loved radio, as a kid, I used to fall asleep
listening to the radio. The radio can be a companion that can have a positive influence in life and marrying
this to Christian music, which has had a very concrete influence in my life of Faith, just made sense.
Why: As with anything that we start in the name of the Lord, I have questioned myself to see if this is
about me... or about THE LORD... It is my belief that if it is about me... it will fade away... if it is from THE
LORD, He will bless it!
Programming: The station's content continues to grow and evolve, but it is and will continue to be free. The
station is playing Christian and positive hits in English and Spanish 24/7. I envision that PelicanRadio.com can
be sort of a hub for Miami Christian music, with some emphasis on Catholic and Hispanic artists whose music
doesn't get the exposure it deserves. I want this to be YOUR Web Radio station and NOT mine, so ideas
are welcomed and encouraged.
Technology: Obviously, you can only listen to PelicanRadio.com from your computer at this point and it is also
limited to people that have fast access Internet, which is becoming more and more prevalent. One bit of
technology that will revolutionize the Internet and Web Radio specifically is the ever expanding web of
WI-FI (wireless networks) available. There are already WI-FI appliances that allow you to listen to Web
Radio through your home stereo. In the near future it is expected that WI-FI will expand as much as cell
phone coverage has, with many cities and businesses already offering free WI-FI Internet access. Web
Radio stations will no longer be limited to your computer speakers.
Prayer: I know that there are much more important things to pray about than a little Web Radio station,
but if you take time to listen to PelicanRadio.com... Please just say a little prayer for us.
